This document provides an overview of the various ways to connect to AVD and highlights the optimal client for your needs.
Understanding the Options
You have several choices when it comes to accessing your Azure Virtual Desktop environment. Each offers a unique user experience with varying levels of performance and features.
HTML Access (Basic)
- Description: Access your AVD environment directly through your web browser. No downloads or installations are required. This allows for platform-independent access from any device with a compatible browser.
- Best for: Quick access, temporary usage, or when other clients are unavailable.
- Considerations: May offer limited functionality compared to dedicated clients.
Windows App (Better)
- Description: A dedicated application available for both Windows and Mac operating systems. Offers a balance of performance and ease of use. It provides a simplified user interface and integrates seamlessly with the operating system.
- Best for: Regular AVD users seeking a streamlined experience with enhanced features.
- Considerations: May offer limited display customization.
Desktop Client (Best)
- Description: A robust application providing the most comprehensive feature set and optimized performance. Available for Windows and Mac. This client offers advanced features like local resource redirection, multi-monitor support, and enhanced security options.
- Best for: Power users and those requiring advanced functionalities or the highest level of performance.
