To activate your ULID account, you must be affiliated with Illinois State University; students, faculty, and staff must meet specific requirements.
In order to activate your ULID account, you must meet the requirements described below:
Undergrad and Graduate Students: To be classified as a student, you must apply and be formally accepted to attend Illinois State University. You do not need to be registered for classes to activate your ULID account. Please note that faculty and staff who take classes are not classified as students.
U-High Students: If you are a student of U-High, you must have a parent sign the “Authorization for Internet Access” form. This form must then be turned in to the principal’s office. The signed forms are used to update the system so U-High students can activate their ULID accounts.
Faculty: If you are a faculty member of the University, your employment contract must be finalized. Your department must work with the Provost Office to ensure that all necessary hiring elements are completed and entered into the mainframe.
Civil Service: If you are a civil service staff member of the University, your hiring process must be completed. Your department must work with the Human Resources Office to ensure that all necessary hiring elements are completed and then entered into the mainframe.
Administrative/Professional (A/P): If you are an A/P staff member, your employment contract must be finalized. Your department must work with the Administrative/Professional Office to ensure that all necessary hiring elements are completed and then entered into the mainframe.
Retired: If you have retired from the University, you have already met this requirement (as a faculty, civil service, or A/P staff member). You will have access to your ULID account for as long as you draw benefits from the University through retirement.
Alumni: Once you leave the University, you lose access to your ULID account. Illinois State University does not provide alumni with ULID accounts, including email. However, the University does provide an email forwarding address for alumni. For more information, please review the following article:
Guests: Guests of the University may be granted special ULID access. Guest ULID accounts are granted on a case-by-case basis.
Other: If you do not fall into one of the categories listed above, you may not be allowed to activate a ULID account or special circumstances may apply.
