How to Create an Exam with ProctorTrack

Adding ProctorTrack to ReggieNet

  1. To add ProctorTrack to your ReggieNet toolbar, navigate to Site Info and then click Manage Tools.
  2. Scroll down and select External Tools, then check the box for ProctorTrack
  3. Click Continue, then Finish. ProctorTrack will appear as a web link in your ReggieNet toolbar.

Note: Adding ProctorTrack to your site will allow ProctorTrack to automatically fill in your course ID when you add an assessment.

To create your exam to be used with ProctorTrack, refer to the following steps:

  1. Log into ReggieNet with your ISU ULID and Password
    • Chrome or Firefox is recommended browsers for ProctorTrack. While ProctorTrack will work in other browsers, the experience is superior using Chrome.
  2. Click on the desired course for the exam you wish to create and then click the Tests & Quizzes tab from the left-hand menu. Finally, click Add tab and choose a name for your exam (See Figure 1)

  1. Click Create
  2. To create a new question click the Add Question drop-down menu to choose the Question Type (See Figure 2)

  1. Enter your question in the Question Text field, and then scroll down (See True/False example question in Figure 3).

  1. Select the radial button next to the correct answer and then click Save (See Figure 4).

  1. The question will be added successfully. You can add additional questions (See Figure 5) using the Add Question option. Once you are done adding questions, click the Settings link.

  1. After having clicked on Settings, next click on the Availability and Submissions tab (if it isn’t already opened). Here you can set exam parameters like Availability and Due Date (See Figure 6).
    1. Note: It is recommended to choose 'Unlimited Attempts' when creating the Onboarding Exam.

  1. Under ‘Ensure Students take Exams from Specific Location’ set the Exam Password in the Secondary Password box and then click the Save Settings and Publish button (See Figure 7).
  • Note: Save this password as you will enter it into ProctorTrack later.
    • Your Password can be personalized, Alpha-numeric and no more than 6 characters

  1. Click the Publish button to publish the exam. You can also choose whether you want your students to receive a notification or not by using the drop-down menu (See Figure 8).

Getting the Call-back URL

The ‘Callback URL’ is needed when you manually add the Test/Exam to the ProctorTrack Dashboard

  1. To get the Call-back URL, click on the Tests & Quizzes tab from the left-hand menu in ReggieNet, locate the published exam, click the drop-down menu and choose ‘Settings’ (See Figure 9).

  1. Click the ‘About this Assessment’ tab and copy the URL corresponding to Published Assessment URL. This will serve as the call-back URL that you will paste into the ProctorTrack Dashboard while manually adding the test (See Figure 10)

  1. Click the ProctorTrack Dashboard link within ReggieNet to navigate to the ProctorTrack Dashboard, then click ‘Manually Add Test’ in the upper right-hand corner to add a test (See Figure 11).

  1. The ‘Course ID’ field is populated automatically. You will need to manually enter the exam’s Name and Callback URL’ (To get the Callback URL, follow the steps above). For the username, enter N/A and fill the ‘Password’ field with the same password for the quiz that was entered in the Secondary Password box when you created the test in ReggieNet (Reference Figure 7 above). Now click Create Test (See Figure 12).

  1. The Test will now be added and displayed as shown below. The Proctoring is enabled by default once the Exam is added to the Exam list. The top of the Dashboard shows the metrics for the Onboarding exam, as well as all other exams.
    • To mark the newly added exam (or any published exam) as the ‘Onboarding Exam,’ simply use the drop down menu option on the right of the exam name (See Figure 13) and click ‘Onboarding On.’ Remember, the onboarding exam is only created as a sample quiz and to create a profile for new users which will then be reviewed and approved or denied by ProctorTrack.
      • Note: Only 1 exam in the course should be marked as Onboarding.
    • You have now successfully set up the exams for proctoring!
