How to Set up Authorized Users in Student Accounts

Students may set up Authorized Users, such as parents or guardians, in the Student Accounts website. An Authorized User can view a student’s account information online, make electronic check or credit card payments, enroll in payment plan, and other functions.

Before You Begin

You may use the Student Accounts website to designate one or more individuals as Authorized Users, which will give them the ability to access selected account information. You must be an Authorized User in order to pay with your electronic check or credit card.

Please Note: When a student completes the steps to add an Authorized User, the Authorized User will receive 2 emails at their email address (the email address the student entered for the Authorized User when the student set up the authorization). The first email has their Username and a temporary password.

Set up Authorized Users

To set up Authorized Users in the Student Accounts website, please do the following:

  1. Go to the My Illinois State web portal at https://my.illinoisstate.edu/
  2. Click [Central Login] and enter your ULID and password. Click [Sign In]. If you are already signed into Central Login, you may skip this step.
  3. Select the [Finances] tab at the top of the page.
  4. Scroll down to the Student Accounts section.
  5. Click [My Authorized Users >].
  6. In the Student Account portal click on [Authorized Users] on the right side under My Profile Setup.
  7. On the Authorized Users page click [Add Authorized User].
  8. Be sure you read and understand the information at the top of the page.
  9. Enter the email address of the authorized users in the blank field provided.
  10. Select [Yes], or [No] next to Would you like to allow this person to view your billing statement and account activity?
  11. Select [Yes], or [No] next to Would you like to allow this person to view your 1098-T tax statement?
  12. Select [Yes], or [No] next to Would you like to allow this person to view your payment history and account activity?
  13. Click [Continue].
  14. When the “Agreement to Add Authorized User” window appears, read the agreement, and select [I Agree]. Click [Continue].
  15. The Authorized Users page will now display the E-mail address of the person you just added as an authorized user.
  16. The Authorized User will receive an email, at the email address entered for the Authorized User above, that will provide them with their username and a password. Also contained in the email will be a link to the Authorized User Student Accounts sign-in page: https://secure.touchnet.com/C20868_tsa/web/index.jsp/.

Edit an Authorized User

  1. Go to the My Illinois State web portal at https://my.illinoisstate.edu/
  2. Click [Central Login] and enter your ULID and password. Click [Sign In]. If you are already signed into Central Login, you may skip this step.
  3. Select the [Finances] tab at the top of the page.
  4. Scroll down to the Student Accounts section.
  5. Click [My Authorized Users >].
  6. In the Student Account portal click on the gear icon underneath Action on the right side next to the Authorized User you wish to edit.
  7. Click [Edit].
  8. In the Edit Authorized User window, you may select [Yes] or [No] next to the three questions to either retain, or change your previous selections. Click [Update User].

Delete an Authorized User

  1. Go to the My Illinois State web portal at https://my.illinoisstate.edu/
  2. Click [Central Login] and enter your ULID and password. Click [Sign In]. If you are already signed into Central Login, you may skip this step.
  3. Select the [Finances] tab at the top of the page.
  4. Scroll down to the Student Accounts section.
  5. Click [My Authorized Users >].
  6. In the Student Account portal click on the gear icon underneath Action on the right side next to the Authorized User you wish to delete.
  7. Click [Delete].
  8. When asked “Are you sure you want to remove (User’s E-mail address)?”, click [OK] to continue.
  9. You have successfully removed the authorized user, and their Full name and E-mail address will no longer be displayed on the Authorized Users page.
