All members of Illinois State University have a ULID account, which includes access to email, My.IllinoisState.edu, wireless, and more.
Your ULID Account
All students, faculty, staff, and annuitants at Illinois State University are granted a University Login ID (ULID) account when they join the University.
Your ULID account gives you access to the following:
- Office 365 for Email, Calendaring, and other Office applications such as Word, OneNote, Excel, etc.
- Wired ResNet (in the Residence Halls)
- iPeople (faculty and staff)
- Software downloads
- Login access to campus computers
You might use your ULID to log in to other systems as well, including anything that uses CentralLogin for authentication.
Activate Your ULID Account
All students, faculty and staff must activate their ULID account upon coming to the university. For students, once you have been accepted to the university, you must first activate your account before you can access it, as your account is unactivated when you are accepted to the university.
To determine if you need to activate your ULID account and for step-by-step instructions, refer to:
Your ULID is based on your full name as follows:
- First initial, middle initial, and first five characters of your last name
- To help keep your ULID unique, it might have a number at the end
- Example: Reggie R. Redbird’s ULID is rrredbi
- Example: Raymond R. Redbird’s ULID is rrredb2
Don’t confuse your ULID with your UID number. Your ULID is your user name and the first part of your email address. Your UID number (University ID number) is a unique number used for all internal business at Illinois State.
When you activate your ULID account, you are required to set a password. Your password will expire every 180 days. You will receive email notifications before your password expires. Even if your ULID password expires, you can still use the expired password to log into the ULID Account Management website in order to change your password. You will be unable, however, to log into any other campus online resources, or computers, until have have reset the expired password.
Please note that if your password has expired and been changed, it may take up to three hours for the password to sync to Office365, which includes email. Attempting to log onto email during this time will produce an error page. If your password is changed before the expiration date, there will be no disruption to services. You will, however, need to update your new password for individual campus services the first time you access them following a password reset.
