Validating Employment for Verizon Wireless Discount

In order to continue receiving a government employee discount on Verizon Wireless, you must validate your employment.

Before You Begin

Verizon Wireless offers a government employee discount, which includes Illinois State University employees. To continue receiving this discount, Verizon Wireless is asking you to validate your employment. The notifications will be sent in waves, so you may not be required to validate your employment at the same time as someone else.

You may receive your request to validate employment in any of the following communications:

  • Message in My Verizon
  • Email
  • Text Message
  • Bill Message
  • Direct Mail
  • A Call from Verizon Wireless

When you are contacted, you are given the option to validate employment either online, via direct mail or over the phone. It is not possible to validate your employment using your Illinois State University email address.

You are encouraged to respond and complete your employment validation within 30 days from the first communication sent either online or by postal mail. Your discount will be automatically removed on day 60 from the validation start date if you do not validate your employment. Once you have validated your employment, you will no longer receive notifications requesting validation.

If you have recently registered for the Employee Liable Discount Program, you will not receive a validation request at this time.

Validating Employment Online with Paystub

To validate your current employment status online, do the following:

  1. Go to https://www.verizonwireless.com/discount-program/.
  2. It is not possible to validate your employment using your Illinois State University email address.
  3. Click [Validate by Paystub].
  4. Follow the step-by-step instructions via Verizon Wireless.

Validating Employment Over the Phone

To validate your current employment status over the phone, do the following:

  1. Call 1 (800) 890-8007.
  2. Follow the step-by-step instructions via Verizon Wireless.

Validating Employment via Direct Mail

To validate your current employment status via Direct Mail, you must have received a Direct Mail reminder. To complete the validation via Direct Mail, do the following:

  1. Find the Direct Mail reminder sent by Verizon Wireless. The reminder will have a paper form attached.
  2. Fill out the form.
  3. Attach a current paystub to the form.
  4. Address and stamp an envelope to the address provided by Verizon Wireless at the bottom of the form.
  5. Mail the form.
