Installing Cisco Jabber on Windows for use with a Cisco IP phone

Cisco Jabber is a client application which allows you to access presence, instant messaging, voice communications, and people search. For more information on Cisco Jabber please refer to the following article:

Install and Configure Cisco Jabber

To install and configure Cisco Jabber for Windows, do the following:

  1. Download and install Cisco Jabber.
  2. Launch Cisco Jabber after you’ve finished installing it.
    • To use Cisco Jabber from off campus, you must first connect with VPN. For more information, refer to the following article: Overview of VPN.
  3. Log in with your ULID and password.
  4. After logging in, click the Settings Icon > Settings.
  5. Put a check mark next to the option, Start Cisco Jabber when my computer starts.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Press the Computer icon in the lower-left corner of the contact list section.
  8. Hover the mouse over Use my phone for calls > Cisco #### (model number varies depending on which desk phone you have).

The computer icon will change to an image of a phone and Cisco Jabber is now configured for use with your Cisco IP phone.

Trouble Connecting?

If you have trouble connecting to the server, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Press the Settings Icon > Help > Show Connection Status
  2. Scroll down to Presence in the Connection Status window.

If you have verified that the correct server information is being used but you still cannot connect, please contact the Technology Support Center at (309) 438-4357 (HELP) for additional help with troubleshooting.
