OneDrive Storage Limit for Retirees and Those Who Have Left the University
Illinois State University members who retire or who leave the University for any reason will experience a change in the storage limit of their ISU Microsoft 365 OneDrive accounts as detailed below:
Retirees
Retirees' OneDrive storage limit will be reduced from 1 TB to 100 GB upon retirement. It is not possible to increase this limit as this is the limit allowed by Microsoft for the type of license university retirees have.
Students and Employees (Non-Retirement)
Students and employees who leave the university for any reason other than retirement will retain access to their ULID accounts/MS365 resources for a 1-year grace period after leaving the University. During this grace period, their OneDrive accounts will default from a 1 TB limit to a 100 GB storage limit.
What Happens When I am Near or Over the Limit?
At 100% capacity, a user's OneDrive account will become limited to read-only access. Users won't be able to upload, edit or sync new files to OneDrive, and existing files will remain as read-only. However, users can still download files from OneDrive, delete files and empty recycle bins.
Users will receive warning notifications when approaching the storage limit. The default notification level is at 90% storage capacity.
