Changing your ULID Password

You are required to change your ULID (University Login ID) password every 180 days (6 months) and can do so even if your password is expired.
Before You Begin
Your ULID password is used to access most online services and systems at Illinois State University.
You are required to change your ULID password every 180 days (6 months). You will receive email notifications informing you to change your password by a certain date. If you fail to change your password by such a date, your password will expire. Follow the article Guidance for Setting Strong Passwords for help with creating passwords.
The instructions below describe how to change your password (if you know what your current password is). If you have forgotten your password, or if your current password has expired, please refer to the article What If I Forget My ULID Password.
Change Your Password
To change your ULID password, do the following:
- Navigate to the Account Management Portal.
- Enter your ULID and Password and click Log In.
- On the Account Management Dashboard page, click on Change Password underneath Password (Figure 1).

- A message will appear stating the password was successfully changed.
- You can log into Account Management even if your password is expired.
- You may click the eye button under each password field to see the characters you have entered.
You will need to manually update your new password for individual campus services following a password reset. For more information regarding this, please refer to the article: Where to Update My Password After a Password Change.
Change Your Administrative Password
Some ISU staff may have an administrative ULID account in order to be able to perform their job duties. The process to reset this password is the same as the process to reset your normal ULID account, except that you will log in to the Account Management portal with your Admin ULID and password. If you have forgotten your admin password, or if your current admin password has expired, please refer to the article What If I Forget My ULID Password.
- Navigate to the Account Management Portal.
- Enter your ULID_admin and Password and click Log In.
- On the Account Management Dashboard page, click on Change Password underneath Password (Figure 1)
- On the Change My Password screen, enter your new password twice, then click Set Password. Password requirements are displayed on this page.
- A message will appear stating the password was successfully changed.
